Our History

Centerpoint United Methodist Church

Centerpoint United Methodist Church has deep roots in North Central Louisiana, shaped by faith, Scripture, and a strong sense of community.

Our story begins in the early 1800s, when Methodist circuit riders traveled throughout the region between the Red River and the Ouachita River, preaching the Gospel and organizing congregations. Early worship gatherings were held in homes, cabins, and outdoor brush arbors, centered on prayer, Scripture, and shared commitment to following Christ.

Serving This Community Since 1894

While our roots reach back much earlier, the church has served the community at its present location since 1894. From that time forward, Centerpoint became a place where neighbors gathered regularly for worship, fellowship, and mutual support.

Like many rural churches, Centerpoint was often served by circuit-riding pastors who traveled great distances to meet the spiritual needs of multiple congregations. Even during times of hardship—war, economic challenge, and periods when few written records were kept—the church continued faithfully.

A Church Built by Faithful People

Throughout the years, Centerpoint has been shaped by revivals, baptisms, shared meals, and the faithful work of its members. Generations have given their time, labor, and resources to care for the church—building, repairing, and improving it so worship and fellowship could continue.

The church has always been more than a building. It has been a place of worship, community, and service, grounded in the Word of God.

Honoring the Past, Looking Forward

Centerpoint United Methodist Church stands today because of the faith and commitment of those who came before us. While times and methods have changed, our foundation remains the same: worship rooted in Scripture, love for our neighbors, and trust in God’s guidance.

We honor our past while continuing to look forward, seeking to faithfully serve God and our community in the years ahead.
